Dangerous moment to take off
Over the past Wednesday, morning at Toronto Parson Airport began with an emergency situation that could turn into serious consequences, if not for the fast and professional reaction of the pilot. The plane, preparing to take off, was forced to abruptly stop in the take-off strip due to an unexpected obstacle that appeared on its trajectory at the last moment.
According to preliminary information, at the time of the beginning of the dispersal, the pilot noticed a ground vehicle on the strip of the technical service, which, apparently, did not manage to leave the site. Thanks to the attentiveness and instantal reaction of the commander, the plane stopped a few meters before the collision.
Solution in a second
The pilot, having a split second to make a decision, immediately activated emergency braking. The plane, which had already gained significant speed, was able to completely stop in the strip, without violating stability and without damaging the structure.
“It was a truly critical situation. The pilot worked brilliantly, demonstrating exclusive possession of equipment and composure, ”said a representative of the airline who owns the aircraft.
The evacuation of passengers was not required - the salon remained in a safe condition, and after a complete stop, the pilot informed everyone about what happened. People on board remained calm, and the crew controlled the situation.
Service work and reasons for checking
Representatives of the security service, ground operators and technical personnel of the airport immediately arrived at the place. An investigation of the incident began - it turns out for what reason the service vehicle was on the runway during the movement of the aircraft.
PEARSON representatives confirmed that such cases are considered with maximum seriousness, and an internal verification of the procedures for admission of equipment to operational zones has already begun.
“This is a reminder that the human factor can play a role in any system, no matter how thoughtful it may be. The main thing is how the defense works and how professional all participants in the process are, ”said Alex Monroe, an aviation security expert.
Passengers are safe, the flight is postponed
After the aircraft returned to the terminal, passengers were given the opportunity to go out and wait for the decision to decide on the new departure time. The airline quickly organized the replacement of the side, and all travelers were offered drinks, food and help with the renewal of the docking flights.
Passengers noted a calm atmosphere on board and a high degree of crew readiness for any emergency situations.
“Honestly, they didn’t even immediately understand how serious everything was. Everything went calmly, we were immediately informed, and we felt that everything was under control, ”said one of the passengers flying to Los Angeles.

The aircraft commander was grateful from the airline’s leadership, as well as from the airport administration. Its actions are considered as an example of a high level of training and the ability to act under pressure.
Many experts have already called the situation “a miracle on the runway”-not because of an accident, but because of how accurate and quickly everything was done.
“This is not luck, this is skill,” one of the experts who analyzed the data from the on -board systems briefly noted.
The airport enhances control
In response to the incident, the PEARSON management announced the temporary strengthening of control over the movement of service transport in operational zones. The communication protocols between dispatchers and ground services will also be revised.
The airport’s work was restored within an hour, and most flights went on schedule.
